Two Wardrobes for the New Place
Jul. 25th, 2020 09:21 pmDue to the low ceilings in our future apartment, we had no other choice, but to buy two new wardrobes in our local Ikea: one double wardrobe for us (dark, almost black) and a white and pink one, the most decent wardrobe for our Tiger Cub.
Why here and not there - you may ask ...
First, we just went to our Ikea to look around and discuss the options, and then to order all we need and want from their local Ikea. However, instead we found out that Ikea's owls are pretty weak: they do not fly far away from their nest. Now imagine both these wardrobes in 48 boxes in total weight of almost 300 kilogram of sawdust. And don't forget its dimension: 6 feet at the withers (i.e. the longest of these 48 boxes was supposed to by by 6 feet long). How should we bing these all boxes by ourselves over the distance that exceeds the owlpower of Ikea?
Thinking a little bit, I proposed to call our moving company and to ask, if they agree to take these additional 48 boxes with all other our stuffs. In the case they ask for additional payment, to call to Cern (who is going to pay for our relocation) and to check that Cern thinks about it.
The company was thinking a little bit more than just "a little bit", but finally they said "yes". And without additional payment!
Thereafter Andrey returned to Ikea to buy these 48 boxes, which have arrived to our place yesterday morning. I.e. 46 (yes, forty six) boxes have arrived to our place.
Well, I completely forgot to write that yesterday morning I spent removingHarry Potter all the spiders living under the stairs, i.e. I carefully emptied and cleaned all the space under the stairs to prepare it for our dear guests: 48 boxes in total weight of almost 300 kilogram and 6 feet at the withers. Well, minus two boxes, but what about these 46... They tried to put them in some kind of "order", but tried to do it "hard"... if we add "ly" to the last adverb....
The fate of two disappeared boxes is still unknown, at least we are going to move without them. If we'll succeed to assemble two wardrobes from 46 boxes instead of 48 - good for us. Sinon, we... Well, let's come there for the first step.
Meanwhile, while (sorry for this tautology) Andrey was sitting on the phone with Ikea, our Baby Tiger Cub and me went about our business: I was packing three boxes at once, when our Baby Tiger Cub continued to arrange (once again!) her toys and to try her outfits. And all this (please, note!), barely passing through and among these48 46 boxes (300 kg, 6 feet at the withers).
Then Tiger Cub went to bed, and I, with a deep sigh, began to put in the best possible order these mentioned boxes-kilograms-feet-at-the-withers.
I remembered the witch from a famous Russian cartoon, who had pretty bad problems with her back at the end of the story, but I put these thoughts aside not to invite bad luck (one more tautology).
Instead I started remembered some of the favorite sentences from Hagrid: lucky for me, our Baby Tiger Cub was sleeping and couldn't hear her mom :)
